Basalt aggregates for roads and railways
ECONSA GRUP SA operates a basalt quarry in Zam, Hunedoara County, covering the full chain from exploration and extraction to the processing and sale of quarry stone. Its aggregates are used mainly in road and railway infrastructure projects.

Crushed stone (25–40 mm) for high-strength cement concrete pavements.

Where exactly is the quarry?
In Zam, Hunedoara County, about 0.3 km off the DN7 (E68) along the Almaș Valley towards Cerbia. The site can also be reached by train on the Deva–Arad line.
What kind of stone is extracted?
A basalt complex of effusive rocks, including basalts and anamesites. The product range is made from class A and B stone.
Which sizes are available?
Crushed sand 0–4 mm; chippings 4–8, 8–16 and 16–25 mm; crushed stone 25–40 and 40–63 mm; railway track-bed stone 31.5–50 and 31.5–63 mm; primary mixes 0–31, 0–40 and 0–63 mm; and screen rejects.

Is the quarry expanding?
ECONSA has started the permitting process for an extension of the Vârfu Fetii perimeter. At the end of exploitation, the land will be reforested.
